Adrenaline Rush is a one-hour dramatic series with wide appeal for all audiences that delivers a modern, reality-based superhero that the Latin community will claim as their own. 17-year old Robbie Sanchez is that hero. Target demographic is 13-34 male/female with additional quadrant appeal.
Pilot Synopsis: For Robbie, born Roberto Luis Sanchez, everything was going as expected for a typical teenager in Los Angeles. But then his father was appointed as Los Angeles’ Chief of Police. That should have been a good thing but instead it marked a turning point where everything started to go south for Robbie. Robbie’s Dad was never around much anymore, not for Robbie’s kick-boxing matches, not for his mother, not for anything. It’s not that Chief Sanchez wanted to ignore his family, he’s just obsessed with being the most effective Chief of Police that Los Angeles ever had. As its first Latino Chief of Police, he wanted to set the bar high not only for himself, but the entire police force.
As one of his major goals, Chief Sanchez decides to confront the gangs head-on that are still thriving in Los Angeles – especially the Latino gangs. The gangs are not pleased. And to send a strong message to the new Chief, they gun down his wife on the very streets the Chief is trying to clean up.
Robbie blames his father for his mother’s murder, and decides to run away from home (Boyle Heights). After wandering the streets all night, Robbie falls asleep on a park bench and is awoken with a six-inch blade at his throat. Forced to commit his first crime by a gang-member known as Slice, Robbie is soon participating willingly, and like Alice down the rabbit hole, is initiated into a whole new world. Robbie meets Scorpion – the Patron of the gang, and General, who is Scorpion’s #1 in command. General immediately dislikes and distrusts Robbie – thinking he is an undercover cop, or an infiltrator of another gang. Robbie’s face is familiar to him, yet he can’t quite place him. Robbie stands up to General’s insults and Scorpion is impressed – he allows Robbie to remain with the gang, though General’s suspicions never go away. Robbie also meets “T”, short for “Trinity” and when their eyes lock, the chemistry between them is undeniable. Unfortunately for Robbie, T is General’s younger sister. T has hopes for more than just a gang bangers life for herself.
